I got a new charger for my MacBook Air! So I’m back, hopefully for a long long time to come. I’m just posting this so I don’t get removed from the ATP team.
Hey, guys, sorry I’ve not posted. I’ve got a good reason to have left, honestly! My computer charger broke…yes, you read right, my computer charger broke. It didn’t connect for ages, and I haven’t got any other devices that support WordPress posting, so I haven’t been able to post. Anyway, here’s a new Creator’s Blog post!
Thursday, November 7, 2013We were just looking through the archives and realized that we’ve been updating the Poptropica Creators’ Blog for over five years. That’s a long time!Five years ago today, Vlad the Viking posted a sneak peek of an Island we were working on. That turned out to be Astro-Knights Island, one of our most popular Islands of all time.Have you ever played Astro-Knights Island? Like the other 34 Islands on Poptropica, it’s free to play! So visit Poptropica now to see what you might have missed over the years.
Sorry for another post so early in the day, but I had to post this one! It’s a collage I made of the AT princesses. From top to bottom, going from left to right: Bee Princess, Breakfast Princess, Cotton Candy Princess, Elbow Princess, Embryo Princess, Emerald Princess, Emerald Ring Princess, Flame Princess, Ghost Princess, Hot Dog Princess, Jungle Princess, Lumpy Space Princess, Muscle Princess, Old Lady Princess, Orange Princess, Peanut Princess, Princess Beautiful, Princess Bubblegum, Princess Princess Princess, Purple Princess, Raggedy Princess, Skeleton Princess, Slime Princess and Turtle Princess. I had to leave out a few, like Laurel Princess, Lizard Princess, Princess Monster Wife, Space Angel Princess, Toast Princess and Wildberry Princess. Images came from Cartoon Network.
Who is your favourite princess? Mine is Ghost Princess, I think she’s just so interesting.
Do you like the title? I like the title. Poptrooo is a mashup of Poptropica and the Land of Ooo, in case you didn’t already notice. In fact, I also like this post, because it mashes up awesome Adventure Time news and phenomenal Poptropica news. Are you ready? Let’s start with posts on the Creator’s Blog, starting on September 9th and ending September 12th, from top to bottom:
The Poptropica Shop is your one-stop destination for all things Poptropica, including customized shirts with your avatar on them. But even though mostly kids play Poptropica, there are also some young-at-heart Poptropicans who wished that we offered these shirts in adult sizes.
Good news: we now offer shirts in adult sizes!
That’s right, more people than ever can now enjoy a Poptropica shirt customized with their very own avatar. Visit the Poptropica Shop today to find the right fit for you!
Now my entire family can get Sleepy Feather shirts!
We know what you’re thinking. Entries for the “Create Your Dream Island” contest aren’t due until December 31! You’ve got all the time in the world to come up with a great new Island idea.
Well, think again. It’s already practically the middle of September. You know how the fall goes. You get all caught up in schoolwork, hanging out with your friends, and thinking about the holidays. Before you know it, it’ll be the end of December and you’ll be cursing yourself for slacking all these months when you could have been putting together the winning entry.
We can’t guarantee that you’ll win if you enter. But we can guarantee that you won’t win if you don’t enter. So what are you waiting for? Get your official entry form from our friends at Penguin, or in your copy of the Island Creator Kit.
Hai people! Sleepy Feather signing in for a special Adventure Time update! If you haven’t already seen ‘Too Old’ do not read any further!
So I really enjoyed ‘Too Old’, especially as PB doesn’t seem to appear much in AT episodes any more. I also noticed all the references to the earlier episode ‘Too Young’. This episode really made me hate Lemongrab, and like Lemongrab 2, which makes me seem weird because they’re practically the same person (umm…lemon?). I also really liked Lemonhope; he was a nice addition to the storyline. I also hope, however, that Flame Princess will make a return (but not as Finn’s girlfriend). I don’t think there should be that much romance in AT, because Finn is just fourteen or fifteen, so not old enough for a serious commitment (like a girlfriend). However, I have realized that in the last couple of episodes, Finn has suddenly developed a maturity: “Perhaps age isn’t just a number. Maybe older people are, like, different. You know? Like less fun inside.”
Next episode, according to Adventure Time Wiki, is called Time Sandwich, and is about when Magic Man steals Jake’s sandwich. I didn’t find a preview for this, though, so I’m not sure if they’ll make the next episode a surprise, or release it later. So, what’s your thoughts on the new episode? Do you think Finn should get a commitment like a girlfriend, and if so who do you think he should end up with? And what other things do you want to appear in Season 5.2? So far we’ve had Jake taking over Finn’s body, BMO almost malfunctioning, Marceline finally getting Hambo back, Flame Princess and Ice King fighting (and Finn and FP’s breakup) and Finn trying to get PB back! I, for one, want more deep episodes about, say, more on the Lich’s backstory, or the Great Mushroom War, and also another episode with Fionna and Cake.
P.S. Fun fact that I found when looking at the related articles/pages – the hambo is a traditional Swedish dance!
As I’m currently going through a state of writer’s block, I’m stuck – halfway through Chapter 1. If anyone’s got any ideas about what should happen next, suggest away.
Sleepy Feather woke with a start. She’d been having a nightmare, just like she had every year since Silver, her younger sister, had disappeared. It was December now; Silver had disappeared on Halloween night. Nobody had any trace of where her younger sister had gone.
She rolled out of bed, exhausted as she had been up very late last night, and got dressed. As quickly as she could, she hurried downstairs and went into the dining room for breakfast. There were two other people at the table; Sleepy’s father, Zany Feather, and her best friend, Spotted Dragon (often known as Spots). Her father was reading the newspaper, as he always did in the morning; Spots wasn’t eating. Neither of them had much of an appetite ever since their other best friend, Silver Wolf, had disappeared at the Monster Carnival.
Just as Sleepy sat down, her maid, Quiet Bird, came to place four pancakes and a cube of butter on her place. “Thanks, Quiet,” she murmured, almost inaudibly. As she poured syrup on her pancakes, she heard a small tone that had obviously come from Spots’ phone. She watched her best friend take out her phone and check her texts, watched her face go even paler than it was. Suddenly Spots stood up and hastened her walk towards the hall.
“Where has Miss Dragon gone?” the butler, Strange Servant, asked as he took the finished newspaper from Mr. Feather.
Sleepy shook her head and watched as her father pushed aside the newspaper. The girl picked up the paper and read the front page: Still No Sign of Missing Children. With a sigh, she got up. “Will you not eat, Miss Feather?” Strange asked. Sleepy shook her head and walked out into the foyer, expecting to find Spots there too.
When she entered the foyer she saw that her friend was slipping on her blue jacket. “Where are you going?” she asked in surprise. She was not met with an answer as Spots opened the door of the mansion. Of course, Sleepy was curious, and her eyes fell on her friend’s phone. Without thinking about it being rude, she picked up the mobile and looked through the texts.
Who are you?
You don’t remember me?
Of course. Meet me somewhere off the island and I will tell you where to go.
Shaken, Sleepy grabbed her red pullover. Her family were quite rich, so she lived in a mansion in the centre of Cryptids Island. Spots’ family, on the other hand, were poor. Her mother was missing, believed dead, and her best friend had confided a secret in her that Sleepy would never, ever tell.
I would like to share with you an incredible milestone in our favourite Lego pack; no, not the Lego Star Wars, the Lego Dr. Hare’s Lair. We have reached 8,350 supporters! I calculated that we need 1,695 supporters and we’ll have made it to 10,000! So let’s put all our efforts in; because otherwise, we will have to say good-bye to our Creators, because the evil mastermind Jeff Kinney is ‘planning dire things for the creators’ if they don’t get to the milestone.
So vote vote vote to get the amazing set that shows up in the pic, under the real brains behind Poptropica’s grinning face. If you aren’t 13, then ask an adult to vote for you, and we’ll make those 1695 votes easy-peasy, because, even though I don’t use legos, my brother and his friends do, and they want this set!
The Creators have just made an epic awesome post! Check it out:
You already knew that we have four new Poptropica books arriving on August 1. You knew that one of those books, the Island Creator Kit, takes you through the step-by-step process of making an Island. Here’s what you didn’t know:
We’re actually going to make one of your Islands a reality!
With the “Create Your Dream Island” contest, one lucky Poptropica fan is going to have their Island chosen to be produced by the Poptropica Creators, and released on the Poptropica map alongside our existing Islands. You create the story, the setting, the characters — and we’ll take it from there. The winning entry will be judged by Poptropica’s creative team.
The contest will begin on August 1. For an entry form and to read the official rules, visit www.penguin.com/poptropica. And for the inside scoop on how to design a winning Island, check out the Island Creator Kit, coming on August 1!
First of all, the Virus Hunter ‘Sneezing Power’ is available!
A summer cold is an unpleasant thing, but making somebody else sneeze during the dog days is a laugh riot. That’s why we’ve just released the Virus Hunter Island “Sneezing Powder” to the Poptropica Store. Just equip it, then press the spacebar to set off a sneezing fit!
And secondly, the Creators have released a training game for Virus Hunter Island.
SD’s EDIT: I just wanted to show non-members what it’s like to use the sneeze power! Here are some pictures I took…
In the upcoming Virus Hunter Island, it’s up to you to battle tough germs in the microscopic environment of a human body. But it would be foolish to do so without training! That’s why we’ve just released “Nano-Combat Training,” a game available in the Poptropica Store that lets you take control of a tiny ship and deal some big damage.Virus Hunter Island is coming soon to Poptropica. But you can play Nano-Combat Training today with Membership! Happy hunting.
Today I’ve got news from both Poptropica and Adventure Time that we should all find slightly interesting. First of all, we’ll give you the Poptropica news.
The Non-Stop fun continues during Disney XD’s Non-Stop Summer on Poptropica! We just unlocked Randy Cunningham’s gaming area. Jump on your bike and check it out!
While you’re traveling around, don’t forget to jump into the Porta-Potty Room to get a free costume and take a ride on the rainbow toilet.
You may also run into a new character called “The Space Man!” If you talk to him, he might make you float high into the sky.
