Want Something New? Take a Map!

Hiya, Silver Wolf here, and it looks like Poptropica has had a bit of a makeover! The map with all of the islands has gotten quite of new additions… If you haven’t seen it yet or want to find out more, keep reading! 🙂 If you just want the recap, scroll to the bottom.

Now, I think we’ve all noticed lately that fewer islands have been released. Well, that’s part of the reason I made this title: you may be getting tired, but it looks like the Creators have been working on other features for us Poptropicans, and this one I like quite a bit. It’s even on the app!

Map.PNGThe first thing to note about the new map is that they’re all in the same style! Yes, even the non-SUI islands without sound or a bigger screen. Also, you may be wondering, why is Mythology on the first page and not one of the last? After all, islands have been arranged by their release date. Well, that’s another thing of the past! Now they are arranged by how popular they are. And let me just say, not only is that convenient for new Poptropicans, but it is also genius advertising Great Pumpkinon Poptropica’s part. Although, Great Pumpkin looks very lonely at the bottom of the last page. 😦

#SaveGreatPumpkin

Honestly, it’s probably because it’s only available to Members right now…right? Yes, definitely. “Home” also seems to be playing a larger part in this. Not only is there an icon in the top right corner, but it’s on the first page, and you land there whenever you log back into Poptropica, no matter what island you were on before you logged off!

Island InfoAh, but let’s get to the specifics. First of all, those bars under the islands show your progress on the island, whether it’s your first time or you restarted. When you click an island, some info will come up, including the difficulty of the island (looks like Captain Crawfish had some part in this with the gold crossbones). Under that is the medallion with how many times you’ve completed the island at the top-right, and your progress underneath, along with an option to restart. To the right is a short excerpt about the island and a ‘Start’ button. Pretty convenient! As a recap:

  • The map is in the app.
  • All the islands have the same style, along with some cool clouds.
  • The islands are arranged by how popular they are.
  • “Home” is slowly gaining more focus.
  • Islands have a bar for your progress.
  • The difficulty of the island is shown once you click it.
  • How many times you’ve completed an island is also shown.
  • Information about the island is given, too.

Shopping for Books and Realms

Hiya, Silver Wolf here, with more updates and releases! Information about Mystery of the MapMarch MadnessRealms, and more will all be included in this gigantic post! As usual, everything will be from oldest to newest, so if you’ve gotten all the old things, just scroll down a bit.

Mystery of the Map Book Released

On March 1st, Mystery of the Map was finally made available to order! The Creators even made three videos consisting of some of the pages (a clever way to advertise 😉 ):

You also may want to check out some of the events on the MotM page. It looks like if you live in New York or Texas of the USA, you might get a chance to get your book signed (one of the signings is today, actually)! Ah, only if small states were as lucky.

March Madness Votes

Vote for the Members-only island you want to open to everyone on Poptropica.Do you remember when all of the sponsored islands were made for Members only (and the reactions to it)? …Well, if you’re one of the people that thought it was an outrage, this is your chance! Until March 31, every common room will have a scroll where you can vote for which island you think should be available for everyone. In fact, you get one vote for each common room you go to! Basically, that means you’ll have upwards of 40 votes you can get. If you need a refresher of the islands that are only for Members, here you go:

Based off of the results on March 16, Red Dragon Island (woo!) and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Island are really close; in fact, on that day, there was only one vote separating them! So, start voting!

Spring Shopping

Ready for spring (or fall?) shopping? Poptropica thinks so! In the Store, you can get some very springy items, like the Flower Power and Sneezing Powder.

The Flower Power, available for everyone, has two options: you can either customize the costume to look like a flower, or you can plant flowers throughout Poptropica.

The Sneezing Power, which only Members can get, allows you to start a chain of sneezing, where you sneeze, any Poptropican in front of you sneezes, any Poptropica in front of them sneezes, etc. I think most of us can agree that this is one of the less fun things about spring…Although, in Poptropica, it is fun to see other Poptropicans sneeze.

Return of Realms

Since February 16, Poptropica Realms hasn’t been available for anyone to access due to bugs in the system. That means it’s been a little over a month since it’s been gone. Luckily, the Creators have yet again defeated the forces of evil, through programming, and Realms is playable again! As a reminder:

You can reach Poptropica Realms either through the first page of the travel map, or from the returning user page after you log in.

You can also visit our handy-dandy post on sharing realms if you need help with that. 😛

Other News

Some other tidbits recently include some monkeys — Night Watchmonk, Berry Scary Monkey, and Charlie the Chocomonkey — landing on other islands when Monkey Wrench Island was released. Sadly, they were only accessible for a short amount time!

For Pi Day, on March 14, a Cream Pie Toss was released that you could throw at other Poptropicans. Also, on March 17, for St. Patrick’s Day, a Leprechaun Follower was released. Both of these were only for limited times, though!

I think that’s it, Poptropicans! 😀

Booking Tutorials, Credits, & Realms

Hiya, Silver Wolf here, and there are a ton of updates! There has been news of a book coming out, problems with Realms, the availability for 300 credits, a new tutorial, and more. *wipes sweat off of head* Let’s get started, then! All of the info will be from oldest to newest.

Poptropica Realms Problems

Poptropica RealmsRecently Poptropica Realms’ icon hasn’t been on the map. Wondering why? Well, the Creators have explained that in a recent update, there was a bug in the coding that made Realms unavailable. They’re not sure how long it will take to fix Realms again, but the post on the Creators’ Blog about it was made February 16, and it still hasn’t been added back. It seems like they may be having some major problems, so we’ll just have to wait a little bit longer.

Mystery of the Map Book

The Poptropica graphic novel Mystery of the Map is available in bookstores on March 1.Mystery of the Map’s graphic novel that you may have followed early last year is being released to bookstores on March 1st! Although, going back to the posts on the Creators’ Blog with the posts on the Mystery of the Map pages, it seems like they’ve been taken down. The goods news, though, is that the book will have additional pages and artwork! At least this way if you did read the whole story, there will be some things you haven’t seen before.

National Engineers Week Credits

If you’re new to Poptropica, you may have some luck this week because the Creators are doubling the amount of credits you receive when you complete four particular islands that are related to engineering. (That means you get 300!)

That’s right! This week only, you’ll earn 300 credits if it’s your first time finishing any of these Islands:

The credits opportunity ends February 27th, so get on with exploring, collecting, and competing, Poptropicans!

Monkey Wrench Island Tutorial

Monkey WrenchIf you go to the Home Island, Amelia Earhart will greet you when you first land, and she will ask you if you want to go with her to an island, promptly named so because the island is full of monkeys. The whole point of the island is to teach you how to play, so there will be messages like the one to the right, telling you how to respond to another Poptropican.

The plot of the island is that you’re racing and you get far ahead, but one of the opponents known as the Red Baroness makes you crash and land on the island. The further you progress, the more you’ll notice that these are the scenes we’ve been seeing lately in the Daily Pops. Also, there’s a little tidbit explaining how the blimp came to be! It seems like you have indirectly caused such a masterpiece. The Creators haven’t specifically said anything about the island yet on their blog ( 😕 ), but they most likely will soon. Although, they recently made a tweet about kids testing it out, and they  just made a tweet about the island, too:

Photo Booth and New Icons

As a side note, there was a Valentine’s-themed photo booth near the holiday, along with a Mystery of the Map-themed one as well. The Creators have posted some of the Valentine’s photo booth creations on their Twitter if you would like to see them. The Mystery of the Map photo booth had some of the island’s popular characters and props that you could use in your photo, with one example being in this tweet.

Another small side note is that the icons for the Menu box have changed some:

New Icons

Well, I think that’s it, Poptropicans! 😀

Tweeting Winners and Tributes

Hiya, Silver Wolf here, and we haven’t missed too much from the Poptropica community. Get ready for some sneak peeks/artSweepstakes winners, and tributes to two beloved people.

Island Hopper Sweepstakes Winners

The winners of the final week have been announced (getting a one-month Membership), along with the runner-up winners of the IHS, too (getting a six-month Membership)! The grand prize winner has even been told, receiving a 30-minute video call with Jeff Kinney! All of them except the grand prize winner are here in a slideshow for you:

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Grand PrizeAnd, as the big finale… Congrats to Comical Burger, who won the grand prize! Hopefully you’ll be able to have an awesome time with Jeff Kinney on the video call. 🙂

Sketches and Sneak Peeks Tweets

The Creators have explained their more-quiet-than-usual absence, explaining in a Tweet they they’ve been working on some big stuff for 2016:

Looks like this guy is important enough to be Tweeted about and have a Sneak Peek in the Daily Pops about him… Hmm, maybe he’s related to the jungle/airplane theme we’ve been seeing lately? Also, they’ve shown some sketches of Reality TV characters:

Personally, I’m tied between the Cool Tech Nerd and The Librarian. Maybe even The Goth Girl, although that one has been used maybe too frequently.

David Bowie and Alan Rickman

The Creators have made some tributes to David Bowie and Alan Rickman, with David Bowie being a famous musician and Alan Rickman being a famous actor (perhaps most notably for the Harry Potter series as Snape). Poptropica has even released a costume based off Bowie before, called the Zaggy Moondust for Lunar Colony Island. They also mentioned Alan Rickman in one of their Tweets, commemorating him with a link to the ATP’s Snape costume. You both will be missed. ❤

The Escape of Sneak Peeks & More

Hiya, Silver Wolf here, and there’s a bit to talk about! Read on to find out the top 10 finishers of Escape from Pelican Rock, missing sneak peeks, and more.

EPR RobberyEscape from Pelican Rock for All

Escape from Pelican Rock was released to everyone on December 30th! So if you’re a non-Member or Member, you can play it anytime you want. I also wanted to do what I used to and highlight the first 10 finishers of EPR Island, so here they are in a slideshow:

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

It looks like the Pathfinders won this time. There’s definitely no bias here (go Seraphim!) 😉

Sneak Peeks

The fascinating thing about the sneak peeks recently is that some have gone missing, including “Deplane” and “Sack Lunch.” They’re no longer in the Daily Pop, but they are still in the files with their assigned date. However, one of the sneak peeks isn’t even in the files, and that’s the “In the Club” photo. It does have its description and name, though, showing that is was once there. If you go to the Daily Pop and look through the sneak peeks, there will be a plain blue screen between “Fireside Chat” and Light Show,” which is where it once was. Maybe the Creators don’t want them to be seen yet? Either way, it’s odd.

Anyway, there have been quite a lot of jungle and plane sneak peeks on the Daily Pop. They definitely seem related, which is mainly due to one specific sneak peek that has both the jungle theme and a plane. Here they are:

They all seem connected, but the sneak peek with the characters has one named “Thelma or Louise,” based off the movie Thelma and Louise released in 1991. It may be just an easter egg for people who know the movie, but I thought it was interesting. 😛 Some other characters don’t seem to fit either, like “Old Pro” and “Red Barbarian.”

Happy New Year’s!

Happy New Year'sI think I can say for all of us that we wish you a Happy New Year’s! Hopefully this year I’ll be able to post more and be more active in the community, which is probably my New Year’s resolution. I also need to catch up on my island medallions…hmm… What’s your resolution?

Sweeping Realms & More!

Hiya, Silver Wolf here, and it looks like we have a lot to update on. Because of finals, I haven’t had much time to be on, but I’m back! From Island Hopper Sweepstakes winners to appdates, there’s a ton of information to catch up on, so here we go!

Island Hopper Sweepstakes Winners

We’re now on week 4 of the Island Hopper Sweepstakes, but we still have to cover weeks 1-3. So, if you would like to know the winners who receive a one-month Membership, they are (with the week as a caption)…

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Remarkable Realms

Since the Creators haven’t posted a Poptropican’s Realm in a while, they decided to highlight quite an extravagant one on the Poptropica Creator’s Blog, which you can visit through the code 72pyj.

Esador City

The Realm is called “Esador City,” and it was made by Loud Chicken. It really looks amazing; congrats on your mention!

Escape from Pelican Rock

Escape from Pelican Rock is now available to Members only! Of course, the Creators have reminded us to view the live map of finishers and watch their famous walkthrough video:

Wonderful Winter Appdates

Winter LogoThe Creators have gotten into the winter groove by updating their app logo, along with a free wintery costume pack — including hats, scarves, and sweaters — and a bundle that includes Jack or Jill Frost, a holiday pet follower, and a Yeti costume  for 99 cents. As a little bonus, they also released a free version of Escape from Pelican Rock. So if you’re not patient enough to wait for the release online, you can head over to the app and download it now!

I think that’s about it, but happy holidays! Hopefully I’ll be posting more soon, too!

Coming Soon: Escaping from Pelican Rock

Hiya, Silver Wolf here, and it looks like the long-talked-about island, Escape from Pelican Rock, now has its own info page! I’ll be including some details about the Island TrailerPoster, and Gold Card, among other exciting info. Anyway, let’s get started!

Escape From Pelican RockThe Creators have released Escape from Pelican Rock’s page, and I must admit, it looks and sounds pretty cool. You’re framed for a crime, and you have to escape from the maximum security prison? Seems like a hefty job to me! Although, here’s the full description:

Pelican Rock is the toughest prison ever built. And after you’re framed for a crime you didn’t commit, it’s your new home! Use your wits to devise an escape plan, and your nerve to pull it off. But getting out is just the beginning — because the real criminal is still out there!

BurglarHmm, two in one! Escaping the prison and finding the real criminal! Although, did the burglar remind anyone else of the one from Night Watch? I put a little comparison to the right. But this one has shoes! *gasp* Along with the description, Poptropica has an awesome trailer:

Personally, I liked the background music, but I didn’t think it went very well with the theme… That’s just me, though. As always, a poster came along with it, which you can download here, but this is what it looks like:

Escape from Pelican Rock Poster
Escapee Dr. HareNext, the awaited Gold Card…Escapee Dr. Hare! What? Dr. Hare? I didn’t think he would be in this island.. Was he kept here before he went to 24 Carrot? Was he discovered back in space and put in the prison? Did he swim to another island? So many questions with so few answers…

Lastly, there are some sneak peeks  on the page — four, to be exact — to keep your wheels turning until the island’s release. It looks like we get a shot of the island besides the prison, the cells inside the prison, and what it looks like from the outside:

Taking Photos with Timmy Failure and a New Poptropican

Hiya, Silver Wolf here, with a ton of news! I know I haven’t posted in awhile, but I’m ready for action. I’ll include some information about Timmy Failure, The Photo Booth Halloween update, and a character change on Home Island!

Timmy Failure Releasing TuesdayTimmy Failure Wallpaper

Yep, you read that right! If you haven’t kept up recently with Poptropica news, then you’d probably want to know that Timmy Failure Island releases to everyone on Tuesday, which is tomorrow (or today for some of you)! A bit weird of a day to release it, but it probably works for some people. 😛

When danger lurks, and criminals hide around every corner, you need the best detective money can buy. That detective is not Timmy Failure — but don’t try to tell him that. You’re about to come face to face with the craziest cast of characters ever to appear on a Poptropica Island. Trying to solve this mystery is only the beginning!

Spooktacular Photo Booth Updates

Even though it’s only the beginning of October, Poptropica seems ready for Halloween to come with some spooky — and awesome — Halloween additions to the Photo Booth on Home Island! This includes new backgrounds, props, and stickers. Here are the premade templates for examples of what they added:

Those are pretty cool, but I think this one is even cooler… Wouldn’t you agree?

Halloween - SW

Silver (Cat?) saves the day!

A New Character for Poptropica Shop

A little minor detail is that the Shop building on Home Island now has a new NPC in front of the store. They change to the gender the character is, so if your Poptropica is a girl, it’ll be a girl, and if your Poptropican is a boy, it’ll be a boy. They both have some style, and here’s a couple of photos for proof:

That’s about it! Maybe it’s only me, but I am super excited for Halloween! Since I’m not exactly allowed to dress-up anymore, I’ll probably be customizing my character pretty soon. Tell us in the comments what you want to be for Halloween. Anyway, have fun!

In other mathematical news, there is a new game in the Cartoon Network world! You can now play CN’s new game called Superstar Soccer! Click here for more information.

But let’s get even more awesome for a sec. Rap Bear isn’t the only one with mad musical skills! Cartoon Network and all the AT characters got to drop a beat in a cool new music video/remix! Check it out!

To be honest, it was a lot better than I thought it was going to be! 🙂

Now, we can’t get more rhombus than this, right? Wrong. CN is bustin’ out a new DVD that is totally *click-click*. It includes 16 cool episodes.

Just to be clear, it doesn’t have a complete season. It is only 16 episodes.

Wow, okay. I don’t know about you, but all this talking (or typing, whatever) has made me thirsty. Why not chill with 7 refreshing drinks from the Land of Ooo? CN has some suggestions…

Bug Milk
adventuretime_Finn_BugMilk
Whether you’re trying to summon a demon from the Nightosphere or you just want to keep your exoskeleton healthy, bug milk is the way to go.

Honey Energy Drink
adventuretime_partypat_withdrinks
Is your life a nonstop party? Do you need a little extra oomph on the dance floor? Pour yourself a tall glass of honey energy drink. It’s guaranteed to give you an extra shot of swagger. Hey, it works for the Party Bears!

Grass Shake

Stone-Skin Potion
adventuretime_finn_stoneskinpotion
Sure, it’ll cover your bod in a layer of jagged rock armor, but it’s also got a grape-tastic flavor that can’t be beat! Yum.

Sparkling Apple Cider
adventuretime_cinnamonBun_applecidershake
Whatever you do, don’t shake it! It might explode… but it probably won’t.

River of Forgetfulness
adventuretime_jake_inriver
There’s something we were supposed to remember about this water, but we can’t quite think of it. It’s probably fine. Drink up!

Dweeb Cup
adventuretime_finnjake_dweebdrink
A potent mix of soda, coffee grounds, beetle butter, grape jelly, kimchi, and ham chunk juice. It doesn’t matter if you’re a dweeb or a cool guy, it’s going to taste just as nasty.

Well, some of those sound pretty tasty, but some of them sound kinda dangerous. Choose wisely my friends…

For a final ounce of awesome from the creator of our beloved show himself, Pendleton Ward, here is a cute drawing he made of himself, AT style.

adventure-time-pendletron-ward-drawing
This might not be in an episode any time soon, but it will appear in the April 28, 2014 issue of TIME! How cool is that? 😀

Don’t forget to keep checking the ATP for more adventurous updates. 😉

PopGames 2013 Advice

How to get the best scores in the new Poptropolis Games events

Many of you have had a chance to check out the new events in Poptropolis Games. We hope you like them as much as we do! Because the instructions screen will only tell you so much, here are a few tips to win gold in the new events.

In the downhill race, you’ll probably notice two things immediately: going through a gate removes a second from your time, while hitting an obstacle adds a second. The best way to make sure that you hit gates and avoid obstacles is actually to go off jumps!

Each jump will take you over a minefield of obstacles that are hard to miss. But if you hit the jump, you’ll sail clear — and you’ll land right in front of a gate.

In volleyball, there’s no real trick, but the important thing to remember is that the angle the ball bounces off of you is based entirely on where it hits you. If it hits the front of you, it’ll bounce forward. If it lands on top of your head, it will bounce straight into the air. And if it hits the back of you, it’ll bounce backward.

The key is to try to position yourself in such a way that you’ll bounce the ball at a angle that is hard for the octopus to defend.

Hope that helps! If you’ve already won the Games, see where you rank on our World Champions live map. If you haven’t played, find out how to become a Member so you can play Poptropolis Games this weekend!

CAPTAIN CRAWFISH

I haven’t played the island yet, so I don’t know if the advice is worth while or not, but it seems helpful! Have you beat Poptropolis? Were the new events difficult?
