Raptors and Reign of Omegons!

Hello Poptropicans! Raptor here, Slippery Raptor.

I’m the newest member here on the ATP and I’m really happy to be here! SD added me a here a week ago but I haven’t found the perfect time to post until now. You might know me as an author on the PHB and my own blog.

Adventure Time is one of my favorite cartoons of all time. Not that it has humor or pbfinnfunny characters, but sometimes you can learn something about the adventures of Finn and Jake! Who ships PB and Finn? I kinda like them together more than Flame Princess and Finn (no offense :P).

marshalllee

About me, I’m fourteen. I like books and music. My favorite Adventure Time character is Marshall Lee and my favorite episode is It Came from the Nightosphere and it was just awesome.

Moving on to Poptropica news, the final and the last episode of PoptropiCon Ep. 3: Reign of Omegon is now available for everyone to play! I have already finished the island right after its release just today and you’re in for a treat! The final episode is just awesome and Omegon is considered to be one of the most evil villain of Poptropica. Click the image to play Poptropica!

popcon3

That’s all of the updates you need to know from me right now! I hope the ATP will have a great time having me here. Go ahead and defeat the hench-bots of Omegon! What do you think? Leave a comment!

PopStorm 18/19, Arabian Princess, Popping on Pinterest, & More

Hey guys! Just a few quick Poptropica announcements. First up, PopStorm 18 and 19.

These two show some Poptropicans with some classy glasses and two cute beaver brothers. 😛

The Creators also released, yet another, awesome sneak peek of Arabian Nights Island.

arab 1

It shows a Princess, along with her father, whom we’ve seen in multiple other sneak peeks. I encourage you to take a look at Brave Tomato’s theory for this island (which specifically focuses on the Princess), especially since the Creators have said that it is spot on.

While on the subject of new islands, I also encourage you to take a look at the PHB’s BTS Overview & Theory of PoptropiCon Episode 3, which I helped out a lot on. The episode is currently scheduled to come out for members on March 26 (for non-members on April 16). Keep in mind that these dates may change.

Anyway, I also want to mention that Poptropica is now popping on Pinterest!

They/Master Mime/Jon Pitcher mainly just repost Poptropica related stuff. Check it out! 😛

While on the subject of social media sites, the Poptropica Help Blog has kicked off the Poptropica Help Wiki!

pop wiki

Anyone is able to edit pages on the Wiki, so be sure to help out! At the moment, the site is trying to set up character pages. 🙂

That’s all for now! (Authors, please be sure to help keep the ATP up to date by posting more frequently!)

P.S. I am now on DeviantArt! Some of my art will be Poptropica/Adventure Time related, so check it out if you’d like.

Realm Creations, Island Sneak Peeks, & More

The amount of updates dude… I just can’t… *Ahem* Okay! We can do this!

First up, some amazing Poptropica Realms creations that the Poptropica Creators thought were worth sharing. 🙂

Pretty cool, huh? Of course there are a lot more amazing creations out there too!

Next up, there have been a lot of recent island sneak peeks.

The first and second image is for Arabian Nights. The third, fifth and sixth are for PoptropiCon. The fourth is just an early sketch for Galactic Hot Dogs. Okay, now I just need a moment to freak out about the awesomeness of the last image (for Omegon).

*cough* Moving on… there are also a couple sneak peeks for Poptropica Comics.

Dun-Dun-Duh!!! 😛

Lastly, another Popstorm (12)!

Poptropica Cartoon? Paper Craft, GHDI, & More

Sorry for the, like, week of no posting guys. Getting back into my school routine was tough.

Anyway, you’ve probably already heard about this, but will Poptropica be releasing a cartoon? This was posted on Twitter a while ago:

twitter 1

All that was said was that the image shows a “Poptropica script read.” Most people are thinking a Poptropica cartoon is in our future. However, people have also suggested that it may be a YouTube series, audio book, or narration for SUIs. What do you think about all this speculation? Comment your opinions below!

In other news, we have many behind the scenes images. First up, an early sketch for Poptropica Comics.

twitter 2

All that we know is that it is a part of something coming February-ish. Next up, a Galactic Hot Dogs ad can now be found.

twitter 3

Go travel in the neon wiener! 😛

Okay, now remember the past paper crafts that the Creators have released? We even have one for the ATP! Anyway, he Creators have now released another paper craft! This one is Svaldalfari, the hammer from Poptropica Land.

twitter 4

You can click here to download it now, or go to the Poptropica Land Tour Page.

Last but not least, has your school banned Poptropica from there computers? I know my school did. 😦

But worry no more! The Creators released this three part image for a Poptropican in need that may solve this problem.

See??? Poptropica is fun and educational! Show those pictures to someone in charge at your school and see if it helps. 🙂

Arabian Nights: Lair of Thieves is now out for all and PoptropiCon: Spoiler Alert is now on android. Have fun!

Shrink Ray, Arabian Info, Tweets, and more

Hello everyone! This is a huge post about a bunch of updates, so enjoy!

First of all, Shrink Ray Island has been updated to a SUI (Sound Updated Island), and re-released to members! (Non-members can play a demo)

shrink_logo

On the Arabian Nights Tour page, info about the second episode is now out! The episode is called Lair of Thieves. Here is the synopsis: ” In the den of the forty thieves, danger lurks around every corner. To outwit the most dangerous thieves in the desert, you’ll need a little help evening the odds – and you’ll find it in the form of an incredible magic power! ”

Sounds cool! 😀

In other news, the Poptropica App is now available on Android devices!

Sadly, the Poptropica Comics for this year have come to an end, but don’t worry, you can read all of this year’s comics in the Daily Pop on Poptropica. The Poptropica Creators also said that Oliver and Jorge will be back for more adventures in 2015. 🙂

comics

Speaking of the Daily Pop, there are plenty of sneak peeks that hint to upcoming episodes of Arabian Nights, Poptropicon, and even the not-yet-announced Galactic Hot Dogs Island.

Here are some sneak peeks that I think are connected to these upcoming stories…

New Sites, Best Lands, Poptropolis History, Interviews, Raffle, & More!

Lots. Of. Updates. First off, have you ever heard of Jet Punk? It’s a site where you can make and take quizzes on your favorite topics. Be sure to search ‘Poptropica‘ and ‘Adventure Time‘ to test your knowledge! A very popular Poptropica themed quiz is where you name all the islands. Can you beat my score of 3:11? The higher your time, the better your score, since the timer goes down. Of course our own author, Brave Sky got 3:12… 😛

Also, Poptropica now has a Tumblr! Not much is going on over there yet, but still be sure to check it out! 😉

Of course, there has been a lot going on on Twitter. Including… another shout out for the ATP!

iheartfanart

Looks like the Creators really like your fan art guys! Be sure to send more art to us, at our email. To see more awesome fan art, click here. The image that the Creators decided to feature in their shout out was “I Heart Poptropica” by HPuterpop. 🙂

Other than the shout out, here is all the other stuff going on on Twitter.

There is a new Big Hero 6 ad (where you can earn a helpful follower and now in theaters), a rejected Black Flags Common Room idea, how to draw a planet from Galactic Hotdogs, early concept art for Monster Carnival Island, and another Popstorm. Too bad some of those Monster Carnival characters didn’t make it, they were awesome! Nothing else to say, really.

Although, there is also a new  Diary of a Wimpy Kid ad, for the upcoming “Long Haul” book. Will this turn into an island?

Now, even though the Lands Public Preview is over, that doesn’t been all the fuss is over just yet! You have seen the best of the best lands in all the categories… but who will be the best of the best of the best? Find out by voting for your favorite on the Creators Blog! Polls are up until Monday and right now, Zany Crown is in the lead.

Anyway, are you up for a history lesson? Wait, wait! Before you leave, just hear us out. It can be pretty cool to look into Poptropica’s past… or should I say Poptropolis? Take a look at these very early sketches of what could have been Poptropica today!

“What could have been! Way back in 2006, when we first started discussing Poptropica, I put together some mock-ups for what the site could look like. We envisioned an enormous map of single-scene rooms, and missions that you could go on every day. Some of this has come true, but a lot has changed! This was before we had the idea of islands or even the name Poptropica. Did you know Poptropica was originally going to be called Poptropolis? If a competitor didn’t come up with a similar-sounding name, we never would’ve had the islands of Poptropica… the building block of the whole virtual world.”

See? Not terribly boring at all! XD But who could this mysterious competitor be? Brave Tomato, from the PHB, thinks that it could have been Nicktropolis, which is now called NickClub. Well, it matches up.

nick

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m happy that Poptropica turned out the way it did. That bright yellow would have been a killer…

So now your interested in history, huh? Well, would a few interviews work for you?

First up, Poptropica comic artist Kory Merrit was interviewed by L’idea Magazine, an online magazine. Among other things, he talked about Poptropica, so here are the main Poptropica questions.

L’IDEA MAGAZINE: You are the illustrator of the comic strip Poptropica. How was this cooperation with Paul Gilligan started?
KORY MERRITT: Poptropica is an online game. I’ve never played it, but knew of it due to it being popular with my elementary students. The Poptropica creators (author Jeff Kinney, author/editor Jess Brallier, etc.) had plans to bring Poptropica to other media. From what I understand, they were in touch with Universal editor John Glynn, who had seen my illustrations and recommended me. The Poptropica creators were actually already familiar with my stuff, since I have a story on Poptropica’s sister site, FunBrain. So after a trial stage in summer 2013, they officially picked me as the illustrator for the comic strip and the graphic novel. Paul was selected as the writer of the comic strip. He’s a cool guy, and I think his “Pooch Café” is one of the best modern newspaper comics.

One of the Popotropica strips.

L’IDEA MAGAZINE: What is Poptropica about? (Please talk about content, characters, type of humor, etc…)
KORY MERRITT: As I said, it’s based on the online game. The main characters in the comic series are Oliver, his sister Mya, and a goofy kid named Jorge. Only Oliver and Jorge appear in the strip, but they all share the spotlight in the upcoming graphic novel. They end up in a world composed of strange islands, each with its own theme. I like the constantly-changing settings – one week I’m drawing werewolves, the next they’re on the moon.
I haven’t worked on the comic strip for a while. It was originally supposed to last only 26 weeks, which Paul and I finished last spring, but I just heard last week that they are planning to order another 26 weeks in 2015, so it will continue into next year at least.

Poptropica-21_jpg_cf

L’IDEA MAGAZINE: You are illustrating a graphic novel for a famous author. Are you still keeping the details secret or are we ready for the revelation of this mysterious author?
KORY MERRITT: Ah, that’s the Poptropica stuff. The famous author is Jeff Kinney, the Wimpy Kid himself – I think I’ve dropped that name a few times already. He created Poptropica and the characters from the Poptropica comics, along with author/editor Jess Brallier and some others. I’m presently drawing and coloring a 105-page graphic novel based on the Poptropica comic characters. It’s an original story from Jeff and Jess, and the script was written by Max Brallier, who has another illustrated series in the works. They’re really cool people. I’m lucky to be on board. I nearly geeked-out the first time I heard from Jeff, but luckily managed to keep it together (or at least that’s how I remember it).

If you noticed, this interview confirms the Poptropica graphic novel, coming in 2015. To read the entire interview, click here.

The same online magazine interviewed Paul Gilligan, Poptropica’s Comic Writer. Again, here are the Poptropica highlights.

L’IDEA MAGAZINE: In June of this year you debuted with another comic strip, Poptropica. Could you tell us how it came about and what is the storyline?
PAUL GILLIGAN: Poptropica is a popular website where players can create avatars and travel through a plethora of interesting islands.  The website’s creator, Jeff Kinney (of “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” fame) wanted a comic strip to go with it, and so he hired me to do the writing.  There were pre-existing templates for the two main characters of Oliver and Jorge.  I fleshed them out and gave them the motivation that they’re searching for a way out of Poptropica by traveling from island to island, kinda like that show “Quantum Leap”, like each time they hop to the next island it will be the one that leads them home.

A Poptropica strip

L’IDEA MAGAZINE: In Poptropica you share the credits with Kory Merritt. How do you operate in the creation of the strip with him?
PAUL GILLIGAN: I do the writing, accompanied by thumbnails if necessary, and Kory pencils out the strips and runs them by me.  I bring up any alterations that might be necessary for clarity, etc, and then he inks and colors the work.  It’s been a fairly seamless collaboration thus far; Kory’s a great artist and super easy to work with.

Nothing was really given away, but it’s still interesting to read. To read the entire interview, click here.

Balloon Boy’s Return? Plus Land Winners & More…

Hey guys! A lot of recent Tweets and posts to cover. First off, I want to emphasize this new video that has been added to the Creator’s “Inside Poptropica” YouTube playlist.

…Does this mean that Balloon Boy may be returning soon? Part of me is thrilled and part of me is sad that we may not be able to look in the sky and find him there any longer. Here is what has been said on the subject:

balloon boy talk

As you can see, Balloon Boy may soon become a Balloon Man…

In other news, Poptropica has still been buzzing on Tumblr lately! The awesomeness has even spread to classrooms.

Ugh, I hate it when I’m stuck on the loading page with a ton of vines across my screen. 😛

Plus, some more concept art has been released! This time, it is for the recent “Monster High” ad.

As you may know, PoptropiCon Episode 2: Spoiler Alert has been released to members and Arabian Nights Episode 1: How Bazzar has been released to everyone. To celebrate, there is a new PoptropiCon themed costume in the Store, called Popzilla.

popzilla costumeYikes! Looks ferocious, doesn’t it? 😉

I also want to share an awesome site that the Creators found. It is called Ask the World’s Most Dangerous Losers. On the site, you can send in any question to be answered by the Poptropica Villains! Note that this is a fan site, therefore fans are answering the questions, not the Poptropcia team. Still, it’s pretty cool!

robotic rabit

Yep, I definitely ship Dr. Hare and Binary Bard now. Let’s call them… Robo-Rabbit. XD

Anyway… The Best of the Land: Dream Houses have been announced!

Look at that! The PHB’s own Slanted Fish is among the best! Click here for an in depth tour of her creation. Nice work Fishy!

Sadly, we are a little late on posting this, so voting for the best of the best is over. The winner is… Zany Crown! Congrats! 😀

dream house 10

The Best of the Land: Villages has also been announced! Thankfully, we are on time for this one.

Click here to go vote for your favorite! The poll should be to the right of the page. The next theme in the contest is an obstacle course, so good luck everyone!

Once more thing! Survival Episode 5, along with free Halloween costumes, are now available in the Poptropica app.
